SHERMAN OAKS – A high quality Porsche or a piece of Disney phone caseland report? For some well-heeled Disneyland fans, that is a no-brainer, and here's the proof: A real 1970 audio animatronic tiki hen from the Enchanted Tiki Room cost $154, 000 at the Van Eaton Galleries auction in Sherman Oak trees this past weekend. An original skeleton brace used in the Pirates of the Carribbean ride, which opened in 1967, went for $129, 000. One successful got a cigar store Indian native that stood in Frontierland almost 50 years ago for $44, 000. Participants originated as far away as Florida which can bid in person, while others from throughout the world placed bids by phone along with online. Nearly 1, 000 involving Disneyland's past, from 1950 which can 1980, went for over $1. 14 million, double the art gallery owners' estimate. "The 'Story of Disneyland' auction this weekend went ahead of our expectations, " Mike Viajan Eaton, co-owner of Van Eaton Galleries, said. "It was beautiful to see how fast and furious the rates for bids were coming in and how iconic the wonder of Walt Disney remains today. "Jordan Reichek, an animator provided by Southern California, put the memorabilia on the block older this month, a collection he started about more than 2 decades ago. He wouldn't say methods he got the items, but The disney produtcions used to throw things away through to the early 1980s, and Van Eaton said the collector knew The disney produtcions workers. Reichek said it was hacia bittersweet moment letting go colour majority of his collection. But your better half said walking around the gallery Sunday and listening to people reminisce about how precisely much Disneyland meant to them got the process easier. "Just seeing human beings be so jazzed about it and as a result hearing their stories really made me and my friends feel great, " Reichek asserted. Bidding wars over popular possessions were common. A Tyco electric utility toy train set that cost $40 in 1966 at a generous gift shop on Main Street, United. S. A, started at hundreds of dollars. An in-person bidder and smartphone bidder ping-ponged the price to $3, 250. Some items could be included for less than $200: a 1962 Disneyland souvenir plate ($175), a 1955 Disneyland coloring book ($118), and maybe a 1959 entrance-gate notice announcing which probably rides were under construction ($95). Shelby Pickett, 23, came from New york. With a $13, 275 bid, your better half won a July 18, 1955, opening-day guidebook signed by Walt Disney. He placed another stump for $15, 000 on a 43-by-63-inch piece of brown paper that, present in February 1955, showed the park's layout. The paper went for $29, 500. Asked why he and many more would spend so much on The disney produtcions memorabilia, Pickett said: "You cannot put a price on magic. "Contact the writer: 714-704-3764 or jpimentel@ocregister. com
