Solvay Specialty Polymers achieves NORSOK compliance

Solvay Specialty Polymers, global producer of high-performance thermoplastics, announced a couple week ago at the Offshore Technology Conference (booth 5324) that semi-finished tubes made in its KetaSpire® KT-820 NT polyetheretherketone (PEEK) resin achieved NORSOK M-710 compliance for use in highly demanding coal and oil applications.

Semi-finished tubes manufactured by ATO s. r. l. from Solvay 's KetaSpire® KT-820 NT polyetheretherketone (PEEK) resin achieved NORSOK M-710 compliance for use in highly demanding coal and oil applications. ATO plans to stipulate the high-performance polymer for additional programs distributed under its STABIL title, including bearings, seals and backup rings that target critical oil and gas system and installations.

ATO s. recommended. l., a top supplier of products based in Milan, Italy, manufactured one of the semi-finished tubes using its STABIL Beautiful Compression Molding process.

Following the recognition of KetaSpire® PEEK, ATO announced plans to specify the high performance polymer for additional products distributed using its STABIL label, including bearings, seals and back-up rings that are geared to critical oil and gas equipment and set up.

NORSOK standards are an internationally accepted set of testing methodologies originally launched by the Norwegian petroleum industry. Its M-710 standard specifically defines essentials for critical non-metallic (polymer) sealing off, seat and back-up materials about permanent sub-sea applications.

Element Hitchin, an independent testing and analytical clinical (formerly known as Materials Engineering Study Laboratory, or MERL) based other than London, evaluated KetaSpire KT-820 NT PEEK according to NORSOK M-710 multi-phase sour service conditions in liquefied at 10 percent hydrogen sulfide, five per cent carbon dioxide and 85% methane worries 10 MPa (100 Bar) with test temperatures of 200°C (392°F), 210°C (410°F) and 220°C (428°F). The exposure testing spanned forty-nine days and periodically measured infection and tensile properties of the KetaSpire KT-820 NT resin samples. Its tests showed Solvay's high-performance VIEW delivered very good resistance to sour vitality and no measurable chemical deterioration in the course of the test period.

"As the sealing off industry continues to specify very high even though, quality and durability, we are excited to work together with Solvay as an innovative globally supplier of PEEK resins, " said Davide Polloni, Business Move Manager for ATO.

"Our matrimony ensures access to cutting-edge new goods as well as Solvay's industry-leading technical specialist knowledge as ATO seeks to develop innovative solutions for challenging oil and gas uses. "

"KetaSpire KT-820 NT resin's qualification under NORSOK M-170 extra highlights Solvay's commitment to work with providers within the sealing industry to help provide and develop next-generation materials supplements, " said Art Tigera, Business venture Development Manager for Ultra Polymers at Solvay Specialty Polymers. "We look forward to continued collaboration with ATO to further cultivate our advanced plastic materials into reliable, new supplements for the global oil and gas industry. "

KetaSpire PEEK is one of the industry's a large percentage of chemically resistant plastics and offers a fantastic combination of strength and toughness, with each other with superior fatigue resistance and a continuous-use temperature of 240°C (464°F). It, furthermore, exhibits high purity and repeated high quality in processing and role performance. Glass fiber-reinforced and h2o and fiber-reinforced grades provide a wide range of even though options for demanding applications.

Solvay Homemade Polymers is exhibiting at the Ocean going Technology Conference (OTC) at the Athens Pavilion (booth 5324).
